Nominating Committee Report & Elections for Membership Year 2007-2008

The report of the Nominating Committee and Elections are scheduled from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Annual Membership Meeting, Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Comprised of BVSCA members' Daniel Corts, Paula Bertolin, and Jane Young, the Nominating Committee will present a listing of all the officers and representatives that served the Association this past Membership Year 2006-2007. This listing will be used as a voter worksheet, and other BVSCA members, who may be interested in serving as officers and representatives of the Association are urged to attend and submit their names for consideration at the meeting.

As the 2007-2008 Association year begins in June, the elected officers and other representatives will assume their responsibilities beginning June 1, 2007. The elected Arlington County Civic Federation Delegates and Alternate Delegates will assume their responsibilities at the beginning of the Civic Federation's new membership year, which commences in September 2007.

The Association urges all members to attend the Annual Membership Meeting and to vote in the election of our officers and representatives for Membership Year 2007-2008.

Briefing on NCAC (Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee) Workbook and Maps for Planning Future Infrastructure Work in Our Community

The Association's NCAC Representative, Daniel Corts, will present a short briefing on the NCAC workbook and maps that BVSCA is using for planning future infrastructure work in our neighborhood. Handouts will be provided and individuals attending the meeting will be invited to comment on the work accomplished thus far, things to be done, and what we need to plan.

What we ultimately provide the County will heavily influence the infrastructure improvements we can expect in the coming years. The Association is seeking volunteers to assist our NCAC Representative in this critically important effort.

Update on Revised Funeral Home Site Plan

At our Annual Membership Meeting, the Association will briefly discuss the latest status of the revised Funeral Home Site Plan, including the latest coordination with County Staff on this project.

Join BVSCA Today - Stronger Homeowner's Association Guarantees Better Neighborhood!

One BVSCA goal for this year is to increase membership and encourage BVSCA residents to participate in their Civic Association. This includes new members just learning about BVSCA and all previous members who have lost touch. There are several of you - you know who you are. BVSCA needs you. Your experience, knowledge and voice are invaluable to the Association.

The purpose of BVSCA is "to take action to protect and promote the welfare and livability of the Ballston-Virginia Square Civic Association's neighborhoods in particular, and in Arlington, in general" (By-laws of BVSCA). Only with a large, active and vocal membership can BVSCA be effective in its dealings with the County officials.

Residents can join by filling out the membership application and paying membership dues. You can do this either by 1) coming to a BVSCA meeting, or 2) by mail. The membership application is on BVSCA's web page and on the front of BVSCA newsletters.

Dues are $10 per person. Dues are payable when first joining and are renewable each year on or before the anniversary of that date. New members and members who have not paid their dues in the last three years must wait 30 days after paying their dues before receiving voting privileges. Dues are used to help fund the Association's activities and sponsored events. Join the BVSCA today!
